Album of Martin Kennedy's (All India Radio) lo-fi electronic and synth experiments in the early 1980s featuring analog synths recorded on cassette tapes. It is the companion album to 'Desert Tapes 1984-1994' released a few years ago.

The album was mastered from the original tapes. I have restored them where possible but many of the hiss, pops and dropouts remain audible. I enhanced some songs with echo or reverb and on a few of them I added additional parts using samples of the original instruments from different tapes.

Instruments originally used: Roland SH-101 synth, Yamaha CS-01 synth, no name pump organ, Yamaha MR10 Drum Machine, Cimar stratocaster guitar

released September 1, 2017

Some of the instruments you can hear belonged to my friends and band members at the time: Pat Burke for the Yamaha MR10 Drum Machine sounds and Greg McConville for the Yamaha CS-01 synth.

Wired magazine: "has mashed the ambient-hop signatures of DJ Shadow, Tortoise and Thievery Corporation with the instantly recognizable guitar soundtracking of Ennio Morricone and Angelo Badalamenti.... capable of floating listeners to galaxies far, far away." ... more
